when you check something off your to-do list that’s been on there for way too long?

Well … Imma ‘bout to give you one of those moments right now…

Introducing, It’s Handled: Trademark VIP Day a customized brand protection experience, where I do all the legal heavy lifting to get your trademark application done in one day!

Ok, so maybe getting your trademark done doesn’t seem like a full-on scandal.

Because when your intellectual property isn’t protected, it’s at risk. And I don’t know about you, but if I spent countless hours and dollars building and creating something, you better believe I’d want it to be protected.

Cuz here’s what can happen if you put this off …

  • You get served a cease and desist letter from a brand (who actually owns the name you’re using) and are forced to rebrand on the fly … or worse, hit with a hefty fine.
  • You discover that someone has swooped in and created a program with the same name as yours … and even though you thought of it first, you’re going to have an uphill, expensive battle to prove it.
  • You hem and haw over filing for a trademark and find out (when you finally go to file) that someone just had the name you wanted approved! And like that, it’s gone and you’re back to square one.

That’s why if you’re building a business that you want to be around for a while, you’ve got to invest in the things that make it unique … and your intellectual property is one of those things.

And if you want to scale and grow your business (and I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t), then you better have your intellectual property protected so that you can leverage it through licensing, collaborations, and joint ventures.

“I thought trademarking was easy. I thought all I had to do was go on the website, put all my stuff in and do the search. When I saw that the name was available, I applied and later when the USPTO was reviewing my application, I got a response saying something like, ‘Due to similarities of some other trademark that is in process, you will have to challenge it and hire a lawyer.’ And I was like, ‘What?!’ I certainly wasn’t expecting that.

Fortunately, some of my sorority sisters connected me with Nakia, and she helped me figure it out. But it did require me to change the name of my business. 😭 I was devastated, and from that point on, I made a decision that anything legal in my business would be handled by an attorney, not me.

If I could say anything about Nakia, it’s this: Nakia is a gem. She knows her stuff and she knows what she’s doing. And for me, I love that she’s a Black, female small business owner herself. She was able to help me out of a jam AND still make me feel confident about my brand and the business I was creating. She’s awesome and is my go-to attorney in times of need.”

When you sign up for an It’s Handled: Trademark VIP Day, you pay a $1,000 deposit to hold your spot and to get the ball rollin’.

Then begins our Prep Work, where you’ll complete a short assignment telling me all about your brand, products, programs, and services.

From there, I will conduct a thorough trademark search to make sure your brand is solid enough and worth protecting. {Don’t worry, if your results aren’t favorable, I will help you NameStorm to find the perfect brand name and I’ll do another search for you … at no additional cost}.

Now, this all happens BEFORE our actual VIP Day. Once we confirm you have a name that is trademark-able and has a favorable search, then we get to scheduling your full-on VIP Day with me.

At this time, you’ll pay your remaining balance of $2,500 (in one or two installments) and we’ll get our day scheduled.

For the actual VIP Day, you get to sit back as I work my magic and file your application with the USPTO.

Then, since the USPTO is not instantaneous, I will be working behind the scenes with them to ensure your trademark gets registered. You’ll receive monthly updates from me and my team until you’ve got that certificate in hand.

Full transparency, the USPTO is experiencing significant delays due to all of the brands born during the pandemic. So pack your patience … it can take up to 9 months for you to officially receive that coveted ® symbol.

But trust me, it’s worth the wait to know that your brand is protected.

This customized VIP Day experience is designed for bosses who are no longer playin’ around with their brands.

If you want to set it and forget it so you can focus on bringing your creative genius to those who need it {while I get my Olivia Pope on and handle it for you!}, then this is for you.

Just imagine how good it would feel to know that your trademark was done and done right so that you can just focus on growing your business and not have to stop and worry about it.

Wouldn’t that feel pretty darn amazing?!

Get started now for just $1,000.

Total cost of a Trademark VIP Day is $3,500. Your $1,000 deposit gets things started and covers the thorough trademark search. Your balance of $2,500 will be due before our official VIP Day.

If you know you need a trademark, but you prefer to be your own Olivia Pope and DIY it, then we’ve got something just for you.

frequently asked questions?

If I complete the search myself, can I skip that step and save on the cost?

Unfortunately, no. This step is crucial to the success of your application. And oftentimes, those unfamiliar with the search process miss names that are similar enough to be a no-go from the USPTO. While we strongly recommend doing your own knockout search, our proprietary comprehensive search is required in order to determine the likelihood of success with your desired trademark application.

I need a trademark for my business name, slogan and logo. Can I file all of those in one application?
No. Each item you need a mark for requires a separate application. We do offer multi-application discounts.
Will I be given a refund if my application gets denied?
No. Not from us and not from the USPTO either. We will do everything on our end to make your application successful, but we can?t guarantee it will be ? that is up to the USPTO. You can rest assured that we only file applications that we are certain have a very strong chance of success, if success is unlikely, we will certainly tell you.
Are there any additional costs involved aside from the prices above?
It depends. Our trademark package includes your filing fee for one class of goods/services, but if you have additional classes of goods/services, you will have to pay the additional costs of $275-$350 per additional class.
Will my trademark ever expire?
Possibly. To keep your trademark, there are required filings and you must actively use your mark in commerce. So, if you stop using your trademark in commerce, or if you fail to timely file your maintenance filings, you risk losing it.
